Biography

Chief Executive Officer Sharon Johnson provides executive, managerial, and leadership to carry out the directives of the Shenandoah Valley Workforce Development Board.  

Sharon earned a Ph.D. in Human Capital Development through the Department of Economic and Workforce Development at the University of Southern Mississippi. She holds a Master’s in Adult Education and Human Resource Development from James Madison University. Sharon has also received a number of professional certifications/endorsements and commendations including:

  • Certified Professional in Learning and Performance (CPLP) with the American Society for Training and Development
  • Certified Performance Technologist (CPT) with the International Society for Performance Improvement

Biography

Debby Hopkins has a Masters in Business Administration from Lehigh University, holds a Senior Professional in Human Resources certification and is a Certified Workforce Development Professional. With fifteen years of executive human resources experience in high technology and biotechnology manufacturing companies, Debby also wrote and administered federal, state and foundation grants for Blue Ridge Community College.

As Workforce Officer and Project Director, Debby develops and facilitates community partnerships that understand and address workforce issues in the Shenandoah Valley. Debby also acts as Project Director of Valley OJT, a $5 million Department of Labor grant that provides wage reimbursement to businesses for on-the-job training of new hires.

Cathi (Ritter) Michie joined the Shenandoah Valley Workforce Development Board in January 2015.  Prior to joining the Board, Cathi served as a public accountant specializing in auditing not-for-profit and governmental entities.  Cathi holds a Bachelors of Business Administration in Accounting from James Madison University and is a Certified Public Accountant in the state of Virginia.  She is a member of the American Institute of Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants (VSCPA).
